Bright and FunWe wanted it to feel fresh and fun, while storing everything from bath products to kids toys, to laundry supplies.
This old bathroom was the main residential and guest bathroom for the house. It was being updated with new laundry machines, so it was about to get even more daily use! Unfortunately, it felt dingy and sad even when it was clean.
This wall around the old chimney was removed to make room for a stacked Washer and Dryer.
Without budget for more permanent changes, secondhand vinyl tiles on top of the existing ceramic made for a huge change for the foreseeable future.
Dark green paint and coordinated rug accented the old lavender tile. Despite the dark color, the high contrast brightened the mood, feeling energizing rather than drab.
Simple cabinets did a lot of lifting for storage. A few decorative items we already had, like candles and an old poster, added personality.
More updated could include a cabinet or curtain to hide the washer-dryer, but for now, the crisp white of the machines coordinates with other crisp whites in the room.
We experience our spaces in relation to what’s near them. Adding a pop of red in the hall outside the room brings energy to that transition, connecting with tiny bits of red in the room itself.
